Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.
The sports star had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
This update on his health comes as the global fight fans had expressed its support for the fighter in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
