Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the duo.
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt prepared to express about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can at last articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "As we began sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the production, remarking that he could not remember "a single day without laughter".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
In a separate tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge agreed to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the LAPD.
A court order placed a restriction on the files to limit the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" pertaining to the active case.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a official listing noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Following the killings, public individuals expressed divergent responses.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, offering controversial claims that were met with immediate backlash by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the critics last week. Conversing on his program, Rogan labeled the remarks as "shocking" and implied they revealed a troubling lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by proposing that an aide should have acted when the choice to comment on the tragedy was made.
