Nintendo has revealed the secret of this week’s animated video titled “Close to You” that perplexed viewers: Indeed, as numerous fans speculated, everything connects to Pikmin.
This past Wednesday, the company published an new iteration of the animated short “Close to You”, in contrast to hidden forces handling the baby items in a baby’s room, a crowd of Pikmin are openly displayed to be the cause of the playful disorder. Red, yellow, and blue Pikmin are shown running around the space, moving things to and fro, and fighting for the child’s binky.
In other words: Pikmin fans called it. The day before, when the company first published the “Close to You” video through its Nintendo Today app, and then later on standard social platforms, followers accurately recognized musical themes from the game in the video. Several speculated they even spotted a couple of Pikmin obscured in the rear.
The short film reinforces the theory that Pikmin cannot be seen to the human eye. But maybe babies can see them? The mother in the video fails to see or be concerned that her child’s bedroom is overrun by the tiny creatures.
There’s one question that persists: Why did Nintendo go to the effort of creating two clips? The reason is not yet revealed. Maybe there’s a fresh installment in the series coming soon — or a special Switch 2 version of the latest title with more playful baby elements. The updated version of “Close to You” concludes without any form of reveal of a complete initiative.
As previously mentioned, the clip(s) may just be another example of the company’s unique approach. The video may only be a further installment in the several animated Pikmin features and comic strips that the company has created for the brand — which coincidentally celebrate its 25th anniversary in the coming year.
No official comment has been received from Nintendo on the details and reasons of “Close to You”, but in case Nintendo break their silence on this one, new details will be shared.
