The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was natural for doubts to be asked about his future following another convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.
Liverpool endured their 9th loss in twelve matches, marking the team's worst run since being relegated in 1953-54.
They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at their home ground.
“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received significant support from management,” Slot remarked.
“It would be nice to change things and earn three points of course but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”
He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”
When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:
“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”
He further stated, “In the normal discussions I feel the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this match yet so we'll see.”
The manager lamented recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.
Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.
“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder stated.
“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”
He added, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”
“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase of this nature with performances this poor.”
He concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until it is removed, we will always fight.”
“We’re going to try to get this team back to where it needs to be, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the world.”
“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
