A review has found that close to 90 aircraft journeys connected to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein allegedly touched down at and left British airfields, with some reportedly having onboard British women who assert they were victimized by the convicted child sex offender.
The flight logs were part of thousands of legal papers and papers released by the estate of Jeffrey Epstein that have been made public over the past year. The investigation found 87 aircraft movements connected to Epstein â featuring many that were hitherto undisclosed â coming into or leaving from British airfields between the early 1990s and 2018.
Unidentified women were recorded among the travelers entering and exiting the UK. Significantly, 15 of these UK flights occurred subsequent to Epsteinâs 2008 conviction for procuring prostitution from a underage person.
âIt was âshockingâ that there had never been a âcomprehensive British inquiryâ into his operations in the country,â said American attorneys representing hundreds of Epstein survivors.
Testimony from one of the British victims was instrumental in convicting Epsteinâs accomplice socialite Ghislaine Maxwell of child sex-trafficking in the US in 2021. However, that survivor has never been contacted by UK authorities, as stated by her Florida-based lawyer.
In a statement, the the Met stated they had ânot received any new information that would support reopening the inquiry.â They noted, âShould new and relevant evidence be presented to us, encompassing any resulting from the release of material in the US, we will assess it.â
A bill to release every document held by the American government in concerning Epstein was approved by the House and Senate last month. The Department of Justice has until 19 December to adhere to this requirement. A vast number of papers are anticipated to be made public.
Additionally, a federal judge ordered last week that the DOJ could disclose evidence from a trafficking prosecution against Maxwell, Epsteinâs close friend, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence over the charges.
