In the wake of a important 2-0 victory over their opponents, the United midfielder has openly declared that Manchester United's squad are completely behind their gaffer, Ruben Amorim.
United's third win of the campaign was earned owing to finishes from Mount himself and Sesko, offering a bit of breathing space for the under-pressure manager.
This performance ensures that the Red Devils have now secured three straight victories at Old Trafford and also achieved their first clean sheet of the campaign.
“The team is 100% backing the manager,” Mason Mount remarked. “We’ve had some performances that were painful – the team, the backroom team and the supporters – but today was crucial.”
He went on to say that this must be the beginning of a run, referring to earlier fixtures where confidence was slipped away.
United will face the Reds post the pause for national team duties, seeking consecutive wins under their coach for the first time.
Ruben Amorim called on his squad to prove that support in the coming weeks.
“Today I witnessed and I am aware they aim to deliver their best and it's evident they do not desire to replace the manager all the time,” the coach commented. “However, supporting the coach means: ‘I will give everything to succeed in each phase of play.’ We need to demonstrate with actions.”
Amorim noted that the side must display their quality in games, not only at their stadium but additionally in away games.
The manager was rewarded by fielding Mason Mount and awarding a maiden appearance to new signing Senne Lammens.
He was signed from Royal Antwerp on deadline day for a sizable fee, but had remained on the substitutes' bench until the latest fixture.
“He appeared assured in his debut,” the coach stated. “Yet the crucial aspect is that his colleagues assisted the goalkeeper to have a good game because everyone was concentrated, with minimal mistakes.”
Questioned about the choice to delay before handing Lammens his first start, the manager clarified that it was a matter of settling in for the arriving player.
Amorim cited factors such as adapting to a foreign environment, fresh coaching routines, and the substantial pressure directed at the shot-stopper at a top team.
Amorim concluded by stating that it was merely the first step and that he needs to maintain his efforts and be prepared for the demands that lie ahead.
