The forty-third annual Golden Joystick Awards unfolded this past week, and with a remarkable performance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the top winner. The surprise role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive won the coveted Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Best Storytelling and Best Visual Design.
Adding to the developer's achievements, the skilled cast also received individual awards. Jennifer English received Best Lead Performer for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Best Supporting Actor for his role as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive the studio was honored as Studio of the Year. Overall, Clair Obscur and its makers achieved 7 awards throughout the show.
Other notable winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which won Best Audio Design and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, honored with Top Self-Published Indie and Premier PC Title. Notably, the lion's share of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the gamers, with only four special—Critics' Pick, Breakthrough Award, Hall of Fame, and Streamers' Favorite—determined by critics.
