A jet carrying Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was required to make an unplanned landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday after a crack was identified in the plane's windshield, according to an announcement which verified that the secretary was unharmed.
"The jet landed in accordance with standard procedures and all passengers, among them Defense Secretary Hegseth, is safe," an official representative commented in a social media post.
Hegseth was returning from a short visit to the city of Brussels during the flight.
This event isn't the first time that a United States armed forces jet carrying a top government figure has experienced equipment failures.
Earlier this year, a US Air Force plane transporting Secretary of State Marco Rubio to the German city of Munich was compelled to turn back to the US capital after experiencing a technical issue.
